Super Matte Red Lip Dupe | Siobhan Ruby

PS Super Matte Liquid Lipstick in 02 (left)
Price: €2.50
Where: Primark/Penneys

MAC Retro Matte Lipstick in Ruby Woo (right)
Price: €20
Where: MAC Stores and Counters

Application and Wear
I found that both lipsticks were easy to apply. The liquid lipstick comes in a tube with a wand which makes application very simple and precise. It applies wet and dries extremely matte which is super drying. Ruby Woo comes in a standard lipstick bullet which isn't as precise. This lipstick is much more creamier than the liquid lipstick which means it's not as drying and doesn't show any fine lines unlike the liquid lipstick. The super matte liquid lipstick isn't long lasting and comes off when one eats or drinks. Ruby Woo can last a long time even after eating or drinking.

Colour and Scent
Both lipsticks are almost identical in appearance. The liquid lipstick is slightly more blue toned and vibrant than Ruby Woo. They are more alike in real life than they appear in photographs. PS Liquid lipstick is scentless whereas MAC Ruby Woo has the signature vanilla cupcake scent of MAC lipsticks.

Price and Availability
The biggest difference between these almost identical lipsticks is the price. The liquid lipstick costs €2.50 from Primark/Penneys. Ruby Woo retails at €20 and is available from MAC stores and counters and online.

January Favourites | Siobhan Ruby

My new years resolution was to blog again so I've redesigned and renamed my blog and now I'm here with my January Favourites.

Bio-Oil;
 I was recommended to get this after I had surgery to help reduce the appearance of a scar on my hand. I use it most days on my scar and sometimes on my face at night if my skin is extra dry and I love it. I can see my scar reducing overtime as I continue to use it. It has a hint of an orange scent to it and it dries quickly so it doesn't ruin your clothes or furniture. On occasion I have used this all over after a shower for added moisturising and I have no complaints. It can be quite expensive but it's easy to find on a special offer. I find it to be worth the price.

Maybelline "The Falsies" Volum' Express Waterproof Mascara;
I have yet to find a drugstore mascara that will beat this one for me. It's the only mascara that makes my poor excuse for eyelashes look any way defined. I tend to go for waterproof mascaras as they hold a curl better. My eyes are also wind sensitive so waterproof mascara is better than black smudges when my eyes water. I have repurchased this a few times before and until I find a better one I'll probably keep buying it.

Morphe Brushes 35n Palette;
I got this palette for Christmas and I can honestly say there has been around 5 days since then where I haven't used it. This palette consists of 35 all matte eyeshadows. The shadows are a mix of warm, neutral and pink toned shadows. There are a wide variety of nude shades which makes this palette suitable for many skin tones. There are also warm browns, pinks, purples, greys and black. These eyeshadows blend amazingly well and work well layered for dimension. If anyone would like to see a more in depth review with swatches, let me know and I'll do that.

AYU Makeup Blender Brush;
This is my favourite brush for applying and blending eyeshadow. This is only €5.50 on the AYU makeup website and I'd highly recommend it for professionals or beginners. The brush blends all eyeshadows beautifully and doesn't leave any harsh lines. I have always said that a good blending brush can make any eyeshadow look good and this brush proves this theory.

Nivea Men Post Shave Balm;
I seen this product used as a makeup primer by Youtube Makeup artist Jamie Genevieve and I had to try it. I use this under my makeup everyday and it lasts so much longer. You only need a tiny amount at a time and smooth it into the skin until it's slightly tacky making the makeup apply to it better. It's super hydrating on the skin and I'll definitely be repurchasing this when it runs out (which won't be soon).

Balmi Cube Lip Balm in Raspberry;
I bought this on sale from a local chemist for €3. It smells lovely and feels nice on the lips. I prefer a greasier texture of lip balm which is why I prefer this over the EOS lip balms. The packaging is slightly gimicky and I tend to get lip balm all over the corners of the lid. When I apply this before bed my lips are still hydrated when I wake up in the mornings.
